Mangled History Icons (xposted from my own journal)



Here are some "mangled history" icons, based on real assignments written by undergraduate students in history classes. Some of the quotations are from "World History According to Undergrads," and the rest are from the book Non Campus Mentis. The Non Campus Mentis quotations were collected from here. Most of the quotations are safe for work, although there is a mention of testicles on one of them. :P

6. In the 19th century, European countries matriculated to Africa.
7. Romans persacuted [sic] Christians by lionizing them.
8. It is now the age of now.
9. Geishas were female Korean military leaders with lots of power.
10. In the 1930s, lots and lots of people were depressed.
11. In the Dark Ages, it was mostly dark.
12. The major cause of the Civil War was when slavery spread its ugly testicles across the West.
13. After WWII, FDR freed the slaves and they started the Civil Rights Movement.
14. Stalin, Rosevelt [sic], Churchill, and Truman were known as the “Big Three.”
15. The Berlin Mall was removed.
