How long have you been online journaling? since 2017, technically, but i deleted my old dreamwidth account and then started this one right at the end of 2018, so more accurately, early 2019.
Why do you like online journaling? i love the slow pace of things, how much quieter and interior everything is for everyone, how we have our own circles and spaces and sometimes come together to share our creations or words or anything we want. it's chill as fuck and even when the community is on edge you don't feel the tension of it in your bones as you stay on the site, if that makes sense. and i really appreciate that about dreamwidth. there's always a sense of stasis if you carve it out for yourself.
What are some of your hobbies? too many: listening to music, playing guitar, writing, self hosting/server shit, reading dc comics, collecting cds/cassettes, and so much more!
Favorite bands/artists: ahhh god i can barely put this into words. i love japanese/korean idols so those mix with my non-idol favorites as such: hello project, akb48, rilo kiley, kinoko teikoku, oomori seiko, fka twigs, newjeans, le sserafim, nmixx, m.i.a., and more
Favorite TV shows: YELLOWJACKETS (it makes me insane), power rangers rpm, kamen rider fourze, avatar last airbender/legend of korra, probably more i can't think of right now
Favorite movies: THE HANDMAIDEN!!!!!!!!! and also uhhh. birds of prey 2020, the matrix 1999, i don't know
Favorite books: blue exorcist (i am very normal about this manga!), some nerdy nonfiction shit, batgirl 2000, new teen titans 1980, my lesbian experience with loneliness, driving with dead people by monica holloway, and honestly i don't read enough novels or anything but that's something i'm hoping to change this year and i am changing as of last night because i started nightwood by djuna barnes and i'm already almost done with it
Other fandoms: you might've guessed from the favorites lists but obviously j-pop & k-pop idols, dc comics, blue exorcist, literally anything music related, and being insane about all of those things.
Is your journal friends only, partial or public?: partial/mix of both
How often do you update?: either once a week or once a month depends on how i'm feeling
What do you want in an DW friend?: someone nice and cool and not fucking weird and i understand 'weirdness' is subjective to an extent but like, weirdness as in being a dick and unlikable and frustrating to talk to. also no bigotry. so i'll take weirdness that isn't that kind of weirdness.

Occupation; i am a SAHM right now, but i was a bartender/worked in the service industry for 13 years, and i also am a licensed hair and makeup artist. eventually, once my son is a bit older, i am very interested in going back to school for psychology.
Do you have any pets?? 2 dogs; Turner (a pibble/boxer mix rescue) and Hooch (a lab/german shepherd who looks like a small black bear), and a betta fish named Fincent Van Gills (or Finny for short)
How long have you been online journaling? since year 2000; but always have kept hand-written journals before then and still keep them on the side... but will ALWAYS have an online journal because i am just so passionate and into the niche world that LJ and all the sister sites once were.
Why do you like online journaling? i love the fact that it's more personal and more meaningful than other social media sites. it's not really as based on numbers, likes, hearts, shares, etc. and more about writing about your feelings, hobbies, life, and really centering in on things that matter and are important to you. surface level things don't really interest me that much - i want to know what makes you happy, what makes you sad, what makes you ache, what you long for, what your life is like... all the things. i've made some of the closest friendships that have transferred over into real life from meeting friends online journaling.
i also love the niche little interest in "usernames" - stemming from LJ and sister sites, to old aol instant messenger, to xanga, etc. i really enjoy the icons... and - just all of it.
What are some of your hobbies? spending time with my family and pets, MUSIC, i'm really into coding html/css and web design, writing, reading, any form of art, long deep talks, the sims 4, crafting, beading, playing music, singing, taking pictures, houseplants, thrifting, going to shows/concerts... i have a special interest in drugs/pharmacology and all information to do with that, true crime, cults, aliens, missing 411 stuff, anything "high strangeness", anything in that realm... (cryptozoology, creepy, dark, mysterious, etc.) i also love to cook, paint, travel and take road trips, and anything outdoors - hiking, camping, surfing, long boarding, skateboarding. i used to go to tons and tons of festivals back in the day prior to becoming a mama, and i still very much enjoy things like that. i also enjoy tarot and astrology. i'm also fascinated with psychology and how people's mind's work and why they do what they do.

okay... basically i could go on with this all day - but you can kind of get the idea. i just love music. all the music. everything above and all the things in between.
Favorite TV shows: i watch documentaries more than anything, true crime stuff, "high strangeness" type documentaries, history docs... as far as shows: shameless, skins, the office, euphoria, bluey (don't laugh - i love watching this with my toddler), i loved game of thrones until the ending, old comfort shows like one tree hill, dawson's creek, and gossip girl. i recently started "yellowstone" and "outerbanks" and am trying so hard to will my ADHD brain to stay interested... which - so far - i am, it's just having the time to actually devote to watching TV since i usually do other things with my time.
Favorite movies: eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, silver linings playbook, donnie darko, 2001: a space odyssey, warrior, into the wild, the prestige, the illusionist, crazy stupid love, titanic, when harry met sally, guardians of the galaxy movies, the dark knight, pride and prejudice, trainspotting, requiem for a dream, inglorious basterds, baby driver, the silence of the lambs etc., the shining, fight club, pulp fiction, mozart and the whale... and basically ALL documentary type movies about any of my interests.
Favorite books: oh GOD. please don't make me do this. i can't possibly do this. i'll just name a few off the top of my head, but please just know this isn't even the tip of the iceberg because this is as complicated as talking about my favorite music. - anything kerouac, vladimir nabokov, kurt vonnegut, hemingway, f. scott fitzgerald, edgar allan poe, pride and prejudice, dostoevsky, oscar wilde, lolita, looking for alaska, paper towns, into the wild, anything chuck klosterman, so sad today, the lover's dictionary, silver linings playbook, a million little pieces, my friend leonard, YOU (the book series is so much better than the show), cherry, anything related to drugs or pharmacology or true crime... blood meridian, or anything cormac mccarthy.
Other fandoms: i'm not really so sure if these things count as "fandoms" necessarily, but i'm into 90's cartoons, the show daria, anything skins, euphoria... i really used to love harry potter a lot more but have kind of been mad at Rowling for a long time.
Is your journal friends only, partial or public?: friends only! i don't post my child to ANY social media platforms besides this one, so i really want to know who my friends are and what they're about, because i don't take that lightly.
How often do you update?: sporadically, but usually several times a week - or if i'm busy, as SOON as possible. i'm very active, even if i'm not writing an update... typically if it's taking me a minute to update, it's because i'm pressed for time or have such a lot to write.
What do you want in an DW friend?: kindness, i don't tolerate bigotry of any kind... i really love people of all walks of life with all different interests; just as long as they're kind. i enjoy a good sense of humor because i also like to laugh and make others laugh. it's a bonus if we have shared interests or things in common - but it's not 100% necessary. i love the way people's minds work and am very interested in all walks of life. i think we can ALL learn from one another. so yeah, i think my only non negotiable is no bigotry, be kind, and no drama. ✘ do not add me if you are down with racism, homophobia, or any type of bigotry or beliefs supporting inequality in any capacity. this is a safe space for me, and it will remain a safe space for anyone on my friends list.

Speaking of books, would you recommend the YOU books? I mean, besides the fact that they seem better than the TV show. If I enjoyed the TV show, do you think I would enjoy the books much more? :)

and yes! if you were into the TV show, the books will blow you away. to be honest, the books are a thousand times better and then some. i read the books before they made the TV show... and i read them by total accident. i worked at a bookstore at the time and i picked them up one day and i could NOT put them down. was reading constantly and finished them all in a matter of days. i found out much later they were going to make a show, and to be honest, it was a let down. and i say that only because having read the books - you'll know what i mean. the show is probably much better standing alone without having read the books to compare. i still enjoyed watching the show and seeing what they did with it, but i highly recommend the books more 100%.

What are some of your hobbies? being creative in one way or another, my ever growing Tom Cruise collection, Postcrossing (not that active anymore), bubble baths, reading, watching sports and movies, listening to music, photography, writing/blogging, teddy bears, New Zealand, Route 66 ...

Why do you like online journaling? It's fun, and how I can easily be more long form here. I've struggled with physical journals since handwriting is hard for me, so I like having this way to log things and also find other folks!

The only thing is if you're anti-vax, anti-mask, a trump supporter, have beliefs rooted in/agree with various bigoted sentiments (homophobic, transphobic, islamaphobic, antisemitic, ableist, etc) we won't get along.

How long have you been online journaling? Throughout my teens and early twenties. Started again in fall 2022 but more or less stopped in early 2023 because of certain life events. I've been back at it since early January of this year.
Why do you like online journaling? I like the connections and self-expression. You get to know others well through this medium, and depending on how you use your journal, you get to know yourself better, too.

How long have you been online journaling? Long. I was in high school when I started LJ, so at least... 19 years.
Why do you like online journaling? IRL I'm shy, work from home and am disabled so I basically never meet real people (real in the sense that I can touch them). Journalling allows me to meet and learn about the lives of people everywhere, any age, and doing all sorts of things, as well as giving me a space where I can talk about things I would never dare to talk about IRL, and get advice/responses from people from all walks of life.

How long have you been online journaling? I've been doing it on and off for years...I think I started my first LJ back in 2002 or so o_O blows my mind that was 22 years ago!
Why do you like online journaling? It's a great way of getting out my thoughts, figuring things out along the way and especially getting input from others. Writing down stuff in a physical, private journal might be nice, but hearing feedback and sometimes advice is much better/helpful!
It is also a great way to keep my English skills on a decent level...writing in German feels weird these days xD and lastly, meeting people from all walks of life, being able to get a glimpse into others' lives (as I am a curious type) and expanding my mind by getting different perspectives on anything.

Favorite books: OMG this is such a tough question! Some faves: "Lolita" (V. Nabokov), "Middlesex" (J. Eugenides), "The Wrong Boy" (W. Russell), The Hunger Games series (S. Collins), "Ms Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children" series (R. Riggs)...and many more! I love non-fiction books on topics like psychology, true crime, sociology, feminism, racism etc. as well. Also, two years ago I fell in love with the Canadian island of Newfoundland, its culture, music, dialect (it's one of a kind!) and everything about it. I know it's quite an odd obsession/special interest but so it goes. xD

How often do you update?: Well, I have been going through some health struggles (mental and physical) in the past month or so, so I've been on a hiatus. However, I'm ready to slowly get back now (or else I wouldn't look for new friends ;)). I am aiming for a weekly update and will do my best to also read my flist at least once a week.
What do you want in an DW friend?: Kind, open-minded and understanding people. As I have some mental health issues (even though I've gotten much better over the past couple years), please be aware that my journal isn't always rainbows and puppies. I am going to keep the whining to a minimum, but I also need to be comfortable with letting out all my feelings here without fearing that it might be too much for someone. Why do you like online journaling? Everything about it is good. It helps me practice my English, for sure, but it’s also very therapeutic. Another big plus is that I’m a sucker for documentation. While I haaardly go back into my entries over here, I do like looking back at photo albums or my personal diary on DayOne written in Spanish. The reason why I don’t look back that much in this one is because +10 years ago my English was TERRIBLE XDDDD.
What are some of your hobbies? Documenting my life ♥. Like I said, there is power in documentation for me. So you can usually find me either taking photos of everything or vlogging random moments in my life. I also like reading, drawing, writing and working out.
Favorite bands/artists: I love k-pop, so that’s a biggy for me, although I’m not up to date with the latest. I’m a 2010s girly 😛 My favorite k-pop band is SHINee. How long have you been online journaling? For 2-3 years now, actually, i been online journaling on other platform so can't tell if that counts, but maybe if i can i will do more journaling on dreamwidth more than ever!
Why do you like online journaling? I could archive my journaling and also keep my journal pretty in site form, but as always it is more convenient to do online journaling than traditional journaling
What are some of your hobbies? Coding, reading manga, watching comedy, listening to jpop, collecting plushies (rarely) and much more
Favorite bands/artists: I LOVE love Fujii Kaze, my favourite jpop artist of all time, also favourite band is Paramore in their old golden era
Favorite TV shows: Umbrella Academy, usually watch it on pirated site but sometimes watching it on netflix with my sis in the past
Favorite movies: Anything romance, comedy or adventuring could caught my attention, i have a lot of favourite movies so can't really tell which one is my MOST favourite but if i have to choose three of them that would be Pitch Perfect, Paddington, Sky High but I'm not really sure anyways so checking my letterboxd acc is the best option for you to know some of my favourite movies
Favorite books: Mostly manga like fairy tails, the apothecary diaries, toilet-bound hanako-kun, tsubasa reservoir chronicle
Other fandoms: I likely to like cartoons, and plushies. For cartoon i have a lot of interest in the old shows like courage the cowardly dog, chowder or modern cartoon (2010-2019 era): steven universe, adventure time, regular show. I also have some plush like moomin, my melody, cinnamoroll, and other plush, etc
